Red Bull Athlete Performance Center, Los Angeles
SR was engaged by Red Bull to design and build its American flagship training center for its stable of elite international athletes. Meant to provide these influential, high-performance sportspeople with a discreet and cutting-edge facility in the heart of LA, Red Bull’s APC needed to blend into the city while still providing a best-in-class, elevated experience.
SR’s architectural language for the Red Bull APC was created to fit the city’s West Coast culture. Every piece was custom built, designed to be simple yet functional, using natural elements including local cacti, pine plywood, black metal mesh, tartan, soaped elm and dark metal.
Red Bull helps athletes get a better understanding of how their body and mind work. Red Bull APC is an R&D lab for the human body where world-class and everyday competitors alike do the work to elevate what’s possible.
To embody this, we repurposed an aging office facility in Santa Monica, creating a simple, modular space that allowed for endless configurations of workouts, rehabilitation and mental acuity training.
